This smoothie is so delicious, my kids might drink mine when I’m not looking.

It’s full of delicious antioxidant berries and gut improving kefir. It tastes yummy and fights bad things in your body, that’s pretty cool!

Why Kefir?

Kefir has so many wonderful benefits for your body including improved digestion, blood sugar, and allergies.

For further information regarding the benefits of kefir, check out this article from Trim Heathy Mama regarding the benefits of kefir here and an article from Dr. Axe here.

Ingredients

  • Milk Kefir – I use 1 cup of 2% milk (fat-free and 1% work here also as a FP). More than 2% would be an S setting. I ferment mine about 24 hours. Though if it went longer, I still use it and just adjust the sweetener.
  • frozen berries – Triple Berry works really great here, but any combination you have in your freezer works.
  • sweetener of choice – My family and I use Trim Healthy Mama Super Sweet and I thinks its a perfect fit. Sometimes I will use honey instead for one of any children or a combination of both.
  • Optional ingredients – Protein powder (any flavor), collagen, cocoa powder, peanut butter powder, or flavored extract of some kind like vanilla, cherry, etc…

Recipe

Honestly, it’s pretty simple to make this berry kefir smoothie. To the blender I add:

  • 1 cup of milk kefir
  • 1/2 cup of frozen berries
  • 2 tsp super sweet (or more to taste)
  • (optional) 2 tbsp protein powder or collagen
  • 1 c of ice

Mix ingredients well and enjoy.

It’s an excellent addition to your gut health and your day! If your interested in more sugar-free meal ideas, check out my Trim Healthy Mama weekly menu ideas!
